Behind the Art

The Immaculate Heart of Mary is shown here in a slightly less traditional way. One of her hands is raised in a gentle gesture of blessing, while the other rests in a way that presents her heart toward the viewer. Her heart is surrounded by roses, symbolizing love, purity, and the beauty of her complete “yes” to God. In this way Mary is both blessing us and inviting us into her heart at the same time.

I hope this drawing invites you into a quieter kind of devotion. One that feels personal, like being gently drawn into Mother Mary’s love and protection.
